Sheriff Mack, Chief Deputy
Schlotterbeck and Deputy Alexander were dispatched on
January 25th at around 11:30 a.m. to a two
vehicle crash at County Road 465 and County Road 184, which
is about six miles east of Castlewood, SD. The Castlewood
and Estelline Ambulance, Castlewood Fire Department and the
SD Highway Patrol were also dispatched to the scene. Brent
Cook, age 51 of Castlewood was pronounced dead at the scene
with the driver of the other vehicle receiving no serious
injuries. Neither driver was wearing a seatbelt. Emergency
crews were on scene for about three hours and also received
assistance from the Deuel County Sheriff’s Office with
traffic control. The SD Highway Patrol is investigating the
accident.
