Fatal Accident near Castlewood

Early Friday morning (November 20th, 2009) emergency crews were dispatched to an accident at the intersection of State Highway 22 and County Road 464 (Kranzburg Oil).   Gerald Meyer, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene and John Hessedence, 61, was seriously injured from the two pickup truck accident.  Meyer was southbound on County Road 464 ran a stop sign and crash into Hessedence on State Highway 22.  A passerby traveling the in the area, call 911 when they approached the accident scene. 

The Castlewood Ambulance, Castlewood Fire Department, Deuel County Sheriff's Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol and the Hamlin County Sheriff's Office were all on scene.   Emergency crews were on scene until about 11:00AM that morning.
