January 24th to January 31st

 
Jan. 24th at 6:30PM:  A rollover accident was reported on Interstate 29 just north of Castlewood exit.  The Deuel County Sheriff's Office and the Hamlin County Sheriff's Office were all on scene.  There was no injuries reported with moderate damage to the vehicle.  The accident was weather related.
 
Jan. 24th at 6:45PM:  Two more vehicles were reported in the ditch on Interstate 29 a few miles north of Castlewood exit.  There was no damage to the vehicles and no report of injuries.
 
Jan. 24th at 7:00PM:  Damage to the box of the pick-up truck and trailer happened when the vehicle when into the ditch on Interstate 29 about three miles north of Castlewood exit.  A unit from the Hamlin County Sheriff's Office was on scene shortly after the incident.  While the unit was on scene, another vehicle started to slide and came close on hitting the patrol vehicle and officer.  There were no injuries reported and the accident was weather related.
 
Jan. 25th at 11:30PM:  On Mustang Avenue just south of the Codington/Hamlin County line a car vs deer accident happened.  There were no injuries reported and minor damage to the vehicle.
 
Jan. 26th at 6:00PM:  A search warrant was conducted at the 200 block of Charger Avenue in Hayti with a number of stolen items, stolen money and drugs were recover.   19 year old Kyle Kratzer of Hayti and 18 year old Steven Geranen Jr. or Hayti were arrest for Possession of Marijuana and Paraphernalia, Ingesting of a Controlled Substance, 10 counts of felony vehicle burglary, 3 counts of felony burglary and Possession of Stolen Property.  An 19 year old Christina Geranen of Hayti was arrested for 8 counts of Misprision of a Felony, Ingesting of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana and Paraphernalia and Possession of Stolen Property. 
 
Jan. 26th at 6:45PM:  A car vs two deer accident happened on State Highway 22 about a few miles east of Hazel.  There was minor damage to the vehicle and no report of injuries.
 
Jan. 27th at 10:30AM:  On State Highway 22 a few miles east of Hazel a one vehicle rollover accident occurred.  The driver of the vehicle was taken to Watertown by the Lake Norden Ambulance for their injuries.  The Hazel Fire Department and the sheriff's office was also on scene. 
 
Jan. 28th at 9:00AM: A minor, non-injury accident occurred on Main Street in Lake Norden between a trailer and a parked vehicle.  
 
Jan. 28th at 10:00AM:  On Main Street in Castlewood, a two vehicle accident happened when one vehicle was parking and another pulling out.   There were no injuries reported and minor damage to the vehicles.
 
Jan. 29th at 1:30AM:  A non-injury, car vs deer accident happened on State Highway 28 with minor damage to the vehicle.
 
Jan. 29th at 5:30PM:  The Lake Norden Ambulance and the sheriff's office were dispatch to a medical call at Lake Poinsett.
 
Jan. 30th at 4:00AM:  The burglar alarm was activated at the Hamlin Education Center and the sheriff's office was on scene.   The incident remains under investigation.
 
Jan. 30th at 10:00AM:  A driving complaint was reported within the city of Lake Norden.  The vehicle was no located.
 
Jan. 30th at 12:00PM:  A passerby reported a woman walking in the middle of US Highway 81.  Law enforcement was on scene shortly after the call and found out the incident was a civil matter.
 
Jan. 30th at 3:30PM:  In Bryant, a residence reported a suspicious vehicle in town.   A law enforcement unit was in town shortly after the call and did not locate the vehicle.
 
Jan. 30th at 11:30PM:  The Hamlin County Sheriff's Office assisted the Codington County Sheriff's Office on a call.
 
Jan. 31st at 1:30AM:  Two 18 year old Watertown males and a 17 year old juvenile were charged with underage drinking of alcohol during a traffic stop on US Highway 81 near Kones Korner.
