Sheriff Mack
has been with the Hamlin County Sheriff's Office since 1976. He was
a deputy sheriff with the department from 1976 until 1979 before he
ran for Sheriff. He was elected into office the fall of 1979 and has
held the position to this day. Sheriff Mack is a member of the South
Dakota Sheriff's Association and was president during the year of
1986. Sheriff Mack is also certified in
HazMat
Printing and helps out with
Hunter's Safety Course held by the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks.
During his off hours, Sheriff Mack likes to spend time fishing,
camping, working in his garden and being with family.

| Sheriff Mack and his
wife, Louise, ran the sheriff’s office by themselves until
the 2002. Now, the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office has
three full-time deputies with the
help of two communities in the county, Lake Norden and Castlewood.
Louise works as a secretary and dispatcher for the department and
keeps police reports, civil papers, and other law enforcement items
in order. Louise has been working with the department since 1980.
