Speed Radar Trailer Hard At Work in Bryant, SD

About the Program
The Hamlin County Sheriff's Office had applied and was approved by the Hamlin County Commissioners in the spring of 2010 to proceed with grant to obtain a speed radar trailer.  This trailer was purchased in 2011 and started its service in April.  While in service, motorists are alerted of their speed by an 18 inch red LED display.  If the motorist is over the posted speed limit, the display will start flashing.  Besides alerting motorist of their speed, the speed radar trailer creates reports for the number of vehicles traveled, the average speed and the number of speeders at the location.  These reports will help in future grants in highway maintenance and safety.  The speed radar trailer runs off two batteries which is charged by a solar panel on site or by battery chargers off site.

The links below will show you locations where the speed radar trailer will be at work.  If you have a request for the speed radar trailer, please give us a call at (605) 783-3232.  Please keep in mind dates and locations are subject to change due to weather, traffic complaints and maintenance on the trailer.  Check back often for the latest updates on the calendar.
